Microphysiological Systems for AD

Two Centers developing standardized 2D and 3D MPS models to advance precision medicine for Alzheimer’s Disease

Mission Statement

We are developing reproducible and scalable 2D and 3D Micro-Physiological System (MPS) models that recapitulate key features of human AD and ADRD pathophysiology. These platforms will be used as precision medicine research tools to investigate complex AD biology and to accelerate drug discovery and preclinical drug development.
Goals:
  • Develop standardized and well characterized 2D and 3D MPS models of AD/ADRD
  • Validity the ability of the models to recapitulate key translational features of AD/ADRD across molecular, biochemical, cellular and histological phenotypes
  • Develop methods for rigorous preclinical efficacy and safety testing and identify readouts that can serve as biomarkers of target engagement, safety, and efficacy
  • Ensure rapid and broad distribution of the models, data, and methods for use in basic research and therapeutic development
